WHAT FOR AND WHY
When you SPEAK ENGLISH,you often use 'WHAT FOR'. Remember, it means the same as 'WHY'; but, is used differently.
WHAT FOR is the informal usage of WHY
"I will not sleep today and type the entire document; but what for?"

"Why would I not sleep today and type the entire document?"

Both these questions mean the same, but the former seems more casual, and the latter is formal.
